Once basic data gathering was proven, realizing that data on the weather underground platform was a challenge. Transmittal over serial bus was problematic. Too, formatting the data according to the PWS protocol took some time.

given this was to be battery powered/solar charged, energy efficiency was a high priority

Consideration was given to harsh environmental conditions in year-round North West Vermont. The finished product needed to be hardened and rugged for immunity to highly variable weather.
